My Students

As a Title I school based in an urban environment, funding always restricts our project-based learning efforts. As a team of 4th grade teachers, we are already planning ahead for how we can help our students grow and explore in the 2019-2020 school year. We want to create an enrichment hour for 4th graders who would otherwise go home to their video games. We know that there is true potential within each of our children despite the challenges they face. Our goal is to level the playing field and watch them soar. Thank you for considering our request.

My Project

Our project is designed is to create a weekly enrichment hour built on fun and science. The bubble kit we would like to purchase requires the students to explore the properties of different materials as they apply engineering standards to create bubble wands. It will help us extend our science curriculum while encouraging collaboration through shared materials. In addition to working as a team to engineer wands, they will also study the properties of bubbles and share their creations through oral presentations. Since our student population is diverse and includes English language learners, this project will also encourage language development and public speaking skills.
