This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is an inner city public school ,with a dual language program, English/Spanish, that spans K through 5th Grade. Two kindergarten classrooms, one that has native Spanish speakers and one that has native English speakers, are paired. There is a total of 44 students in the Kindergarten Dual Language program. Students spend half of their day, in core subjects, in English and the other half of their day, in core subjects, in Spanish. I am the Kindergarten English language teacher. This combination provides strong English and Spanish speaking models. They both support and challenge each other every day.

My Project

Bubbles are such a mystery! Bubbles can teach us many things. I want to bring a bubblologist to our school to teach my students about the science, dynamics, mystery, and fun of bubbles. Bubbles with shimmering waves of soap films, rainbow bubbles, bug bubbles, small bubbles, bubbles bouncing on bubbles, giant bubbles, etc...and the grand finale where every child gets a chance to be inside of a giant bubble.

This visit will provide 40 dual language students the opportunity to interact with bubbles, play with bubbles, and explore the endless possibilities of bubbles.

This will also be a great opportunity to explore "bubble vocabulary" in Spanish, which will be new to our English speakers and native Spanish speakers.
