My Students

My classroom is a learning environment specifically for students with Autism grades K-2. My students all have varying abilities and are all unique in their own right, but have moderate to severe needs. Not only are we working on academic skills, but we are also practicing social skills and how to self regulate our bodies.

My students require several different strategies and interventions to be successful in self-care during their school day.

My students require visuals, a consistent routine and ample opportunities to sensory integration to help them focus.

My Project

The students in my classroom have Autism and their sensory processing interferes with some of the little things in life. One of the hardest daily self-care​ task for children with Autism is brushing their teeth. I have heard many parents report that this simple task is often a huge issue for their children.

It is absolutely critical children develop good oral care habits early in order to promote a lifetime of great oral care.

A Learn to Brush Demonstration Kit, a Hygienic Toothbrush Holder, toothbrushes as well as books about visiting the Dentist will help me teach my students how to take care of your teeth and that the Dentist is your friend.
