Team-building and character-building games and activities are a huge part of my PE curriculum at DIES! I place a major emphasis on teams and small groups accomplishing goals. Being placed on a team or in a group with other students of different skill levels, backgrounds, strengths, and weaknesses builds character and creates bonds!
We use our imaginations and get into character for games like Island Vibes, Pirate Ship and Squirrels in the Forest!
The equipment that I am asking for will help enhance our team-building units at PE. Resilience is built during these games, when students are presented with a problem, and work together to solve it!
I am specifically targeting standards that encompass the areas of character and resilience, such as state standards HE.5.R.1.1- "Discuss how to work together to achieve a positive outcome" and HE.4.R.4.1- "Describe how perseverance may help overcome obstacles." I present my students with many obstacles to overcome throughout our team-building and character-building activities, and it is so special to step back and watch them work together to solve problems and finish things that they start, especially things that are difficult!
