This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are mostly from lower-income households, where their families are either struggling to get by or experiencing the hardships of mothers, fathers and even siblings living apart from one another, many times in another country. They end up in our schools with a variety of needs, often times not speaking the language, having any family near, or sometimes sharing living quarters with relative strangers.

Our students are immigrants and minorities, many who come with very little by way of money or experience and need something to keep them motivated and excited to keep coming to school every day.

We love them all the same, and so we decided to create a baseball team that will allow them to develop bonds with others who have similar interest, on a baseball diamond where the grass is always green and it isn't over until the fat lady sings.

My Project

Obtaining a pitching machine and a inverter to power it on the diamond will truly become the backbone of our baseball program which has only grown since it's inception in 2014.

These training aids will allow us to hold practice year round in our limited space.

Getting every opportunity to catch fly balls, field ground balls and line drives, hit a variety of pitches and speeds, consistently thrown in the strike zone.

Most of all these tools will allow me (the only coach) to work with more players on a individual basis, while others use the pitching machines to hone their skills.
