Brooklyn Arts Sewing, Fashion and Upcycling Club

Help me give my students sewing equipment, irons, patterns, fabric and materials that will be used to create wearable and functional items. Many students can hand-sew and yearn to learn to sew on a sewing machine.

My Project

This club provides students opportunities to learn sewing skills, showcase their design and crafting abilities as well as their interest in fashion.

Saving materials from going to waste sites by repurposing donated items of clothing is one of our missions.

For example, denim jeans are made into bags, skirts, hats and jewelry.

Wearing items that they created or repurposed therefore bring great joy, pride and pleasure. They are seen around the school and in their communites in unique, self-promoting creations.

As a highlight, the club collects and hosts a Prom Giveaway for Seniors during the prom season.
