Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every year Ms. R, the Social Worker at LT Elementary School, takes on interns to give them the hands on opportunity to learn and grow their skills and expertise before officially graduating with their Social Work degree.

While this not only helps the interns grown, it provides a great deal of much needed support to our school's most at-risk students.

Interns provide crucial social and emotional support, often lending an ear, assisting with students' problem solving, and teaching students strategies to assist with their wide range of big emotions.

These supplies like the laptop carts, handheld sensory items, and timers will allow the Social Work interns to push into classrooms to support students (instead of students coming out of the classroom and missing instructional time).

Our goal is to increase in-classroom support in order for students to obtain maximum instructional time supporting the growth of their reading, writing, and social & emotional skills.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
