Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a dedicated, hard-working teacher and it is my goal to bring students the best I can possibly provide. Our students have minimal learning support from families due to language barriers and only 35 percent of parents graduated from high school!

Ours is a high poverty school where 80 percent of students come from broken homes and have socioeconomic challenges; 87% are on free lunch programs.

However, these young people are proud, motivated and are truly excited to dive into the world of computer science. They realize that regardless of their career path, computer science is a crucial skill to have knowledge and experience in. Our district is committed to exposing students to the world of Computer Science and I am fortunate to be the AP Computer Science Principles teacher.

My Project

35 iMacs and keyboards were brought to my classroom from another school site. Sadly, 7 of the keyboards look like the picture shown. Several keyboards have missing keys.

My students deserve equipment that they can be proud of.

I am sad that some students will have to use keyboards with missing keys the first day of school and I am hoping I will be able to provide them with new keyboards.

I work very hard to form caring relationships with students and they respect the equipment I provide them. They will be very thankful if I am able to replace these broken keyboards with new ones.
