My Project

This project will help get current books into the hands of secondary readers. Middle school students are notorious for saying reading is boring, but with the right books, reading is magical. Having new books will allow me to engage students in competitions such as Idaho Battle of the Books as well as offer club opportunities such as a book club. Both activities foster relationships, which creates a strong community as well as a feeling of belonging. I would love to engage students more with the library as well as with their peers to not only build a love of reading, which will then build literacy but to have a safe, comfortable place in school. Our school is small and therefore has less library funding than other schools, so donations and grants help make these opportunities happen.
