it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a demographic area that is rural and comprised of a low socioeconomic status. They attend a school where 89% of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch. However, despite their hardships, they have the drive to succeed in their education. In addition, despite their economic background, these students strive to become productive, articulate, and responsible citizens.
My students are developing as intrinsically motivated and independent learners.
They come from a school where the staff is dedicated to working collaboratively as a professional learning community to ensure that all students receive an education that reflects data-driven decisions, current curriculum, and research-based practices.
My Project
Podcasting is an amazing tool to tell a story or share ideas around the world. It's a way to share content beyond written words. If possible, I would love to bring this technology to help my students develop skills in researching, writing, and public speaking. If given the chance, students will also learn how to create high-quality audio recordings. We will use the requested portable recorder with microphones, SanDisk card, and booth box to record interviews, personal stories, current events, and different research topics. This portable recorder will also allow us to record podcasts while on field trips and activities outside the classroom. Students will collaborate and share their thoughts with their peers at school, as well as edit the content with audio software to share with our school, the community, and the world.
Research has shown that podcasts are an effective, portable, convenient and intimate way to deliver and produce content.
As educators, we are continuously looking for ways to connect with students while providing opportunities to discover and elevate their critical thinking skills through technology. This project will provide a classroom environment and behaviors that will facilitate STEAM. By giving them this opportunity to thrive, my students will achieve the assertiveness needed to get a higher education. The experience and tools will prepare them for their future careers, as well.
