Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Imagine if Steven Spielberg or George Lucas had to produce a movie with equipment that was over ten years old. Imagine if they couldn't use HD technology or their audio and video were out of sync. This is the problem that faces my students/future movie producers everyday!
The students in my broadcasting class are in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.
My students write, star, film, video edit, and produce wonderful documentaries about school wide events. They love what they do and always exhibit creativity and enthusiasm about capturing day to day life, educating the entire student body, or revisiting important moments in history. They work for months on their projects. Most of my students want to go into graphic design, video editing, or broadcasting and communication.
My Project
The two computers with monitors and software programs will change my students' lives by allowing their products to reflect their skills. The ten year old computers they use now do not allow for the video graphics and audio to match up. The videos they produce do not come out with the highest quality possible because the current computers are unable to handle the HD format of our two cameras. These student-created videos are needed for school wide presentations and for my students' portfolios so that they can compete to get into magnet high schools for broadcasting or film production. As of now, they are not able to compete due to the deficiency in technology that we currently have. Just think, your donation may help begin a career and a lifelong passion!
