My Project
My classroom focuses on communication in US History. I believe that if students can communicate and talk about events that we have discussed in class, they will be more likely to remember them in the future. As we discuss events in history my class will be creating media to help teach each other about these important events. We start off with a newscast on battles of the American Revolution and move on to creating commercials in the Industrial Revolution, and so on for the rest of the year. This gives students the chance to research and develop their media literacy skills in finding ways to create meaningful content.
We live in the age of media and I want my students to have the skills necessary to sort through and create media that is meaningful and use critical thinking skills to catch media that is so meaningful.
This can best be done with hands-on projects with a team of students who rely on each other to accomplish their goals.
This equipment like lighting and mounts will be used more than just in my classroom but with the daily announcements, and after-school clubs.
