My Students

I am the media specialist and Technology Support Teacher at my school. I see all 700 students and assist with technology projects. By the end of the year, I would like our students to broadcast news live to the school using a camcorder.

My school is in a suburb of a large coastal city.

Most families in the area fall below the poverty level. With that in mind, our students are some of the most technologically advanced students in the entire school district. We are always looking for the newest technology to help our students be successful and productive citizens.

My Project

I am requesting a camcorder and case with this project. My school has the ability to broadcast live to each classroom with the use of an encoder. This camcorder will be used to film "On Location" segments for our morning news cast. Students will be able to interview and report for all over the campus with this camcorder.

With the ability to report live from different places on campus, students will be working on their speaking and presenting skills.

One of our College and Career Ready Standards for every grade level includes speaking and listening skills. Doing news reports will help students practice their speaking skills.
