Brite Beginnings: Reading Bags to Inspire 5th Grade Readers!

Help me give my students personalized reading bags—bags they can use throughout the year to carry their books, reading tools, and notes wherever their imagination takes them.

My Project

The up-and-coming 5th graders are full of potential, energy, and curiosity. As they step into this important year, I want to set the tone for a love of reading right from the start. That’s why I’m creating personalized reading bags for each student—bags they can use throughout the year to carry their books, reading tools, and notes wherever their imagination takes them.

Giving them a personal, creative space to organize their reading life empowers them to take ownership and feel valued.

These reading bags aren’t just about supplies—they’re about building a culture of joyful, independent reading.

Each student will receive a custom-decorated tote filled with laminated bookmarks and personalized reading tools that they help design.

Your donation will help provide felt pens, cardstock, laminating sheets, canvas totes, and bookmarks—the essential supplies to build and decorate these reading bags. The goal is to foster ownership, excitement, and pride in their reading journey. These bags will also support our classroom literacy routines, including book clubs, independent reading, and take-home reading practice.
