Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from predominately low income households. Many have grown up in the Antelope Valley and have never ventured too far from the immediate vicinity. Due to the poverty in our community everyone in our district receives free lunch and breakfast. My students come from families that see education as a way to break out of poverty. My students are great problem solvers and learn how to make due with less. They are caring and compassionate students who want to see a world outside of Rosamond, and experience the adventures of seeing other places, people and cultures. Most of my students want to go to college and become people who make something of themselves and make their families proud; especially when they are the first in their family to go onto college.

My students are attentive to their education and interested in learning about the world and people who exist beyond their local community.

My students are sensitive to the needs of others and help people in the community by donating food, blankets and toys to the poor. They look actively to help others in and out of the classroom.

My Project

Students will get a deeper dive into learning about the Holocaust. The museum's tactile and interactive exhibits allows students to move through the museum and expand their knowledge of the Holocaust and get a better sense of what victims went through.

Students will learn about modern day hate speech and activities and bullying in our current times and how to stand up for themselves and others when hateful actions and speech are being spread in our society.

Students will learn that varying points of view and a multitude of racial backgrounds, gender definitions, religions, etc. enrich and enhance our American culture and to respect and appreciate differences in our society.
