This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Teaching is my passion but there are many obstacles, especially with working in an inner city. My students range in age from 14-17 and are taking either Algebra 1 or Algebra 2. Many of my students have faced many adversities in their communities and at home, and most come to school and try to work as hard as possible to make the most of their time in high school. My students struggle due to learning gaps in their years of education but would be able to bridge that gap if given the necessary materials, such as calculators.
My Project
My students need graphing calculators to explore varies real world mathematics problems.
The utilization of the instructional technology, TI-84 calculator will enhance my students' success when confronted with mathematics problems in the classroom and the real world.
Students will use their TI-84 calculators in class as well as during state standardized assessments such as the SAT. In receiving mathematics instruction with the TI-84 in hand students will gain a sense of comfort in utilizing the tool to solve problems. Being that our school is a theme based magnet school, focusing on Information Technology, the TI-84 calculator will not only magnetize the theme of my school but also the brains of the students in my class.
