Bringing the WORLD to Montana

My students need landforms and mapping hands-on resources, books about North American countries, including the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and books and activities related to Native Americans in the United States to gain an understanding and appreciation of the diversity between cultures in the world.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Lippert's classroom raised $414

I have the incredible privilege of teaching a fantastic group of third grade students at a small, very rural school in Montana. The school I teach at has a very diverse population of energetic students on a Native American reservation.

My students have lived the majority of their lives in the small, rural community our school is located. Due to the rural nature of our school, the majority of the students have not experienced much cultural, ethnic, or linguistic diversity that many of the larger schools would be naturally infused with. There are many important aspects of my job as an educator but one of the most important is to prepare my students to be successful anywhere in the world. Part of being successful in the world is the understanding and appreciation that there are many different cultural groups in our world, with many differences that need to be learned about and celebrated!

Thankfully my students love learning about the world since their "real-life" experience with the world has been so limited. Pictures, video, and books speak volumes to my students and create numerous questions in their inquisitive minds! In order to really foster a desire to learn about different cultures and regions in the world and to celebrate the differences between those cultures, my students need access to materials that will feed their hunger for knowledge about the world. The materials I am requesting will allow my students to learn more about North American cultures through books filled with vivid pictures and through hands-on experiments that allow them to create their own landforms found in different regions we study. I am requesting several books about the United States, Canada, and Mexico, which are filled with pictures and descriptive text to build the visual understanding of cultures, "Make-Your-Own" Landform kits to allow students to replicate the landforms we learn about and put written descriptions with a visual understanding, and Native American resource kits to celebrate the different Native American tribes found in North America.

Your generous donations will help my students realize the amazing qualities that all of the different parts of North America have to offer and build a larger cultural awareness that is increasingly important in an ever diversifying world. Supporting this project helps students in a rural school get a world-wide point of view they may not otherwise get. Thank you sincerely for all of your support!
