Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My kindergarten students are curious, energetic learners who love discovering new things. Many of them are multilingual learners who benefit from visual, engaging resources that support language development while building early reading skills. Because my students come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, providing meaningful and accessible nonfiction texts is incredibly important for helping them connect classroom learning to the real world.

A classroom subscription to Scholastic News will give my students a fun and exciting way to explore science, social studies, animals, weather, and current events.

Each issue includes colorful photos, simple nonfiction text, vocabulary support, and interactive activities that make learning meaningful for young readers.

These magazines will help my students practice important early literacy skills such as listening, speaking, vocabulary development, and comprehension. The visual supports and engaging topics are especially helpful for students who are learning English, allowing them to build background knowledge and participate confidently in discussions.

Scholastic News also encourages curiosity and critical thinking. My students love looking closely at pictures, asking questions, and sharing what they notice with their classmates. These magazines will support whole-group lessons, small-group discussions, and independent exploration.

With your support, my students will have the opportunity to become young readers, thinkers, and explorers who are excited about learning and understanding the world around them.
