My Project
Aloha! I'm a middle school Special Education teacher that will be in the classroom in just a few weeks. I teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade students and WMS in Honolulu, HI.
The world of LEGO is only restricted by one's imagination and I want to bring that world into the classroom to help encourage, motivate and inspire my special education students to learn!
I want to create a classroom that incorporates elements of game into the learning environment. My classroom is a mix of LEGO and Indiana Jones.
The idea of my gamified classroom is that students would be able to build their way through the different topics of my classroom. Each completed assignment, finished quarter or classroom effort can be rewarded with bricks to build into their learning.
All effort in class is important and has value. This project will help me to encourage my special education students through the learning process in a real and concrete way.
I'd like to have the opportunity to purchase these LEGO to enhance the classroom engagement.
In the end, I want to create a classroom learning environment for my students that sparks creativity, motivates learning and helps students feel welcomed.
