My class is one of four kindergarten rooms in a large school building that serves over 550 students. Our school serves a low SES population and provides 100% free and reduced lunch for the students who attend. In order to create the best learning environment for these students I want to bring some of the outdoors in. I want to create a peaceful, welcoming, and safe environment for the students who spend their days with me.
My students are a fun, creative, and energetic group who deserve a space that serves their needs.
My Project
The furnishings I chose will help create a neutral learning environment when paired with wall decor to create a space where students will be able to focus on learning while still having an engaging theme. I want to soften the color pallet of our classroom while making it feel like we have brought a little bit of the outdoors in. Other items I plan on incorporating will continue the forest with animals and more greenery. Promoting a calmer feel for students when they walk in.
These furnishings will help create a space with calm colors and softer lighting to help us focus on learning in a space where students want to be!
I will also be using these products to give students more seating options than the traditional classroom desk and chair. Having options for seating allows students to find what works best for them and makes them most comfortable for learning.
