Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a Title I school, which is considered highest poverty, our students are in need of many tools to help them build a stronger educational and physically active foundation.
Not only are we a Title 1 school with many of our students from low-income backgrounds, these students have limited space to engage in activities and games during lunch and after school.
Having these backyard games activities will provide students with new ways to learn to cooperate, use critical thinking skills and have fun in a small environment.
My Project
My students need games. By having these games and teaching these students the backyards games of the old school we can show our students how to engage in activity without having access to a large space. Due to our lack of space we believe these types of games, including Kan jam, giant connect four, cornhole, lawn bowling and ring toss can create a positive activity environment for our students to develop manipulation skills, critical thinking skills and have fun.
These games will allow for students to work and cooperate in small groups, develop better hand eye coordination and critical thinking skills.
The games are also easy to set up so that students can take ownership of organizing and playing the games on their own.
