Bringing The Monarch Butterflies Back To Our School!
Help me give my students acrylic paints, display boards, signs and gardening gloves to help get our ARC projects started! Each item will help my students create a project that will make everyone proud!
Thank you for taking the time to help my students! This semester they have been learning about Monarch Butterflies and how their population is dwindling. We decided that we could help at our school by making our own Monarch Butterfly habitat in a garden box. The students have been so passionate about planting milkweed and other pollinators in our community and we decided we wanted to extend that by bringing it to our school garden! The seeds will be used to plant in our garden and the students will be able to help weed out invasive plants by wearing their new gardening gloves. After they plant the seeds, they will make signs using acrylic paint to dedicate the garden box to the Monarch Butterflies. We will be using extra signs to post on the hillside with facts related to the Monarchs for everyone to read.
Once they have completed their work outside, we plan on using the display boards to tape pictures of their efforts, writing they have done, and ways others can help outside of school.
They will be using the microphones to create their own commercial to get the word out online. My students are special because they have been working so hard inside of the classroom and on the weekends (planting in the community) to help bring these special species of butterflies back and to see their hard work come to fruition with these supplies at school, would make them so happy!
