Bringing the Holocaust to Life with Night

Help me give my students the ability to explore the human impact of history by providing each of them a personal copy of Elie Wiesel’s Night.

My Project

As part of our United States History course, we explore World War II and the Holocaust. While we cover the facts, timelines, and global impact, Night offers something deeper: a personal, emotional lens into the realities of what people endured. It helps students understand history not just as dates and events, but as lived experiences—experiences that still shape our world today.

My students come from diverse backgrounds and often face academic or financial challenges.

Many of them have never owned a book. Giving them their own copy of Night will allow them to annotate, reflect, and engage with the material on a personal level. They’ll be able to take it home, revisit it, and make lasting connections between history, literature, and their own values.

This project will build both literacy and empathy. It will help students become critical thinkers and compassionate citizens. Your donation will give them the gift of a story that matters—and one they will never forget.
