My Students
Building connections between old and new knowledge helps enlighten and enhance learning. Classroom discussions help broaden my students' knowledge base about the topics and ideas we're studying. Although my students attend a Title I school, they love working together, discussing new topics, as well as making connections between what they're learning and the real-world.
My students range in abilities and languages spoken--they are diverse learners who need a variety of teaching strategies to help them learn.
They love learning and thrive for knowledge.
My Project
My students love to express themselves through art, music, and drama.
And each year, my students start school with a blank canvas classroom and as the year progresses, they help turn it into a masterpiece.
They use the classroom art supplies to transform the room. They use oil pastels to create self-portraits. They use sketching pencils, coloring pencils, and markers to show their learning on chart paper, to illustrate their stories and comics, to build and design props for their upcoming performances, and to write inspirational quotes and sayings. They use watercolors painted onto the thick paper to go along with their original poems.
The art they create and the projects they invent are all possible when the materials are available in the room.
And it is them...my students who make the classroom into a home.
