My students need a camcorder to create videos of their immigrant experiences.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Tigert's classroom raised $607
This project is fully funded
Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
~ Never underestimate your problem or your ability to deal with it. ~ Robert H. Schuller
I plan to create a digital classroom, a piece at a time. Research shows that students' ability to create electronic media enhances both their motivation and their literacy.
I teach immigrant students from around the globe.
They represent all levels of abilities, so that's one reason we want to incorporate the digital media as much as possible: to connect us all through the visual arts. To create this project, students will need to access the traditional forms of literacy: written and spoken English. We hope to increase brain power on both the left and right sides through this lesson.
My Project
With a Canon video camcorder, we will "tell our stories" of life before arriving as well as the challenge of making the transition to the U.S. culture.
With and two boxes of modeling clay, I will teach revision. Each student will get a small piece of clay, mold something of their choosing, add to it, take away from it, and then understand that the "first draft" can be improved with with process.
Our inner-city classroom has very little technology, and I would like to change that.
I feel that this camcorder will enhance the students' learning experience in my classes and help to "hook" the reluctant learners.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
