My Project

Surface area is one of the most difficult concepts for 6th graders to learn because it seems very abstract, especially when they only have models to work with on their paper. 6th graders are learning surface area for the first time, and it's the foundation for geometry topics in future grade levels.

Manipulatives, such as magnatiles, give students the opportunity to explore surface area in a hands-on way that makes it more concrete.

Not only will students be more engaged and have fun working with something interactive, but they will have a deeper understanding of the concepts. I can't wait for students to learn math while having fun!

Mrs. Millard will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by August 23.
