Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a diverse, low-income, underserved community. Their love for learning and pride in their language and culture amaze me each and every day. Over time, we become a class community and family with an unbreakable bond. They are my true inspiration and motivation for what I do.
My Project
Nacer bailando will allow students to identify with maintaining their home culture and language while adapting to American culture and the English language. It will allow them to see themselves in stories and be able to relate to the characters through their everyday lives.
Nacer bailando is about a Mexican American girl and her Mexican cousin who learn to appreciate where they come from and who they truly are.
It presents challenges and opportunities for many who navigate between more than one culture on a daily basis. It will inspire students to appreciate where they come from in order to help get them to where they would like to go.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
