My Project
Picture a classroom buzzing with energy. A space where students are leaning in, pencils scribbling, and voices rising with excitement as they uncover the meaning of a poem or understand the theme in a novel. That’s the kind of 6th-grade ELA classroom I strive to create every day.
Another, new to English, staring at a blank notebook, overwhelmed by the task of organizing their thoughts.
As their teacher, I want to show them how, I want to guide them visually, modeling strategies they can use to grow as readers and writers. This is where an iPad can make all the difference.
With an iPad, I can project my thinking onto the classroom screen in real time, showing my students how to annotate a passage or break down a writing prompt. I can use apps to create interactive activities tailored to my students’ needs. For my ML students, I can integrate translations and recordings to bridge the learning gap. iPad’s versatility will allow me to make learning more dynamic and accessible, meeting my students where they are.
Our school is a Title I school, and most of my students face significant challenges outside the classroom. Many are MLLs navigating not only new academic concepts but also a new language and culture. They are curious, resilient, and brimming with potential, they just need the right tools to succeed.
