Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are continually growing, learning, and questioning everything around them. They are artists, thinkers, scientists, and problem solvers. They learn and grow from each other and help each other grow both academically and socially in the classroom.
Students help inspire each other to grow and reach their goals both in and out of the classroom.
They are our future, and I want to give them a great start to the school year. Who wouldn't want to be part of a warm classroom with lots of hands-on fun?
My Project
In honor of Chicago hosting Lollapalooza, the event inspired me to create a STEM-A-Palooza for our classroom. Students deserve to have a variety of learning materials to become hands-on engineers and construct new and creative creations. Students will use their Lakeshore journals to write down the various activities they engineer and think about how they can revise or plan for the next time. Students will have an opportunity to build LEGO glasses, LEGO animals, make a water bead squishy, and so much more. Students will use the paper bags, plates and containers to help store or create something new.
Hands-on learning and deep thinking allows for an opportunity of imagination and creation to come to life!
Each student should have the opportunity to include STEM in their classroom! My students last year saw STEM as an amazing incentive. I'm proud to say that our prize box faded because of the addition of STEM. That is one of my classroom goals. Let's create a classroom of high interest and the love of learning!
