My statistics students LOVE to read together in class! I am always trying to find new literature for us to read as a class to help my students keep this passion.
My students attend a charter school in South Carolina.
This school is so interesting as it consists of a very diverse group of students from all over the county. These students work together so well even though they are from a large variety of socioeconomic backgrounds.
My Project
Do you remember reading in your math class? Probably not because it is a very rare occurrence. My students don't see a connection between English and math, and these books can provide that link for my students. My students need twenty-five copies of Freakonomics and one audiobook of Freakonomics to read together in class. My students will each get a copy and read the book Freakonomics and follow along with the audiobook while they are reading in their statistics class. They will see how what they are learning can be used in real world scenarios.
Your donation to this project will not only be used by students this year, but every year hereafter in my statistics classes.
It will help open my students eyes to a world beyond the mathematical calculation we are learning on a daily basis. Please help provide these resources for my students!
