My Students

I work at a low-income school with students from incredibly diverse backgrounds. Many of them work after school jobs to help support their family. A lot of them are working hard to learn English, having recently moved from countries that speak Spanish, Arabic, Russian, and many more.

Despite the challenges that they face, I am impressed every day by their work ethic and the sense of community they bring.

They are always willing to help each other out and striving to make sure that everyone can succeed. I try my best every day to make my content accessible to all of my students.

My Project

I work at an older school and a lot of our lab equipment is becoming old, broken, or outdated. It makes it difficult to do labs when we don't have enough basic supplies.

Getting these materials with help me be able to incorporate more labs into my curriculum.

I firmly believe that in science classes, students should DO science not just learn facts about science.

After high school, my students may not remember who Ernest Rutherford was, but they will remember and use the critical thinking and problem solving skills they cultivate during labs for the rest of their life.

By donating to my project, you will be helping provide more opportunities for students to get that practice that will help them for the rest of their lives.
