Bringing Science to Life With iPads and Merge Cubes!

My Project

As a middle school science teacher at a STEAM Magnet School, I strive to make learning interactive, relevant, and exciting for all students. One way I do this is through augmented reality (AR), which allows students to explore scientific concepts in 3D using tools like the Merge Cube. These experiences help deepen student understanding, especially for learners who benefit from hands-on and visual learning.

I currently have Merge Cubes in my classroom, but we lack the technology to use them fully.

I request two iPads for students to engage in AR experiences in small groups. With these iPads, students can rotate and explore virtual models of Earth's layers, body systems, cells, weather patterns, and more, right in their hands.

Access to this technology will improve engagement and comprehension, especially in science units such as thermal energy, weather and climate, and life systems. Many of my students have limited exposure to science beyond the classroom, so using AR brings abstract concepts to life and makes learning more accessible and exciting.

My Students:

My students are curious, creative, and eager to learn, especially when lessons are interactive and visually engaging. Many come from under-resourced backgrounds and greatly benefit from classroom tools supporting exploration and imagination.
