My Students

I have been teaching for 17 years in the same wonderfully diverse community. My students come from all different backgrounds which enhances the multicultural flair of our school. Many of my kids have a strong support system outside of the classroom, while some have little or no support for various reasons.

Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” -Benjamin Franklin. This year's class is comprised of 25 general education students with all different learning abilities. Several are struggling readers. Some have documented IEP's. Several struggles mathematically, and for some, learning comes naturally and easy. However, all are capable of becoming whatever it is they wish to be with our guidance, patience, encouragement, and involvement.

My Project

Studies state that children learn best when they are actively involved. Now that the nicer weather is hopefully on its way, I intend to bring science outside.

We are so excited to take action and help Citizen Science get the data they need on local species of birds.

Students will observe local birds' behaviors, eating habits and patterns on a weekly basis over a period of time. Datasheets including student observations will be completed and submitted to scientists looking for this information. The student made bird feeders and bird houses will allow us the opportunity to conduct the research needed; hands-on learning at its finest.
