This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are eager, motivated, and excited to learn. I have a classroom that consists of 5 and 6-year-old kindergartners that for some, this is their first time in a school setting. Many of my students come to school with limited social skills and vocabulary to thrive in an educational setting.
They have great attendance and smiling faces as they enter my classroom each morning.
They are positive and happy every day. Although they have so many skills to learn, their hard work is evident in all they do. Our school is a STEAM Magnet with a supportive community. Many students ride the bus to attend our school and qualify for free or reduced-rate lunch.
My Project
I would like to request an inkjet printer that will support my students with publishing their writing. These materials will be used to support students' current writing growth as they are learning to use technology to display their writing.
It is imperative that students are able to see the full writing process including the publishing of their work.
Using a colored printer, students would be able to print out their writing completed on their iPads and create physical books to share.
The importance of students being able to see their writing as a finished project allows them to share all of their hard work and grow strong, confident writers. Their personal stories often resemble their feelings and experiences which in turn supports my student's ability to talk about their social-emotional needs.
