Bringing Our Library and Projects to Life With Color
Help me give my students a Color Laserjet Printer to use for their class projects, book buttons, and library signage. We also want to make the library more inviting with this willow branch light-up decoration.

My Students
My students walk into our school library with excitement in their eyes. They can't wait to be able to let their imagination go wild in the library Makerspace. You can see students taking apart and putting together computers, designing 3-D models, constructing structures, learning about circuitry, or playing board games. You will also see students curled up in the corner reading a book or asking me for a new book for them to read. It always puts a smile on my face when they come back to me, after reading a book, to tell me how much they loved a book.
The library has become a safe place, where my students have an opportunity to experience things that they can't access otherwise because of their socioeconomic background, and one of the best parts about my school is that we have such a diverse background of students.
This project will provide our school library with a new color printer so we can print out signs, book buttons, and student projects in color.
My Project
My school has a very diverse population, but we lacked diverse books to match our school population. Because of this, I purchased several ProjectLIT books and signed our school up as an official ProjectLIT chapter. ProjectLIT is a grassroots community that works hard to promote books with diverse characters and themes such as social justice. Along with purchasing several of the books, we bought a button maker, and when a student reads a ProjectLIT book, they receive a button (pin) with that book's cover on it. This new adventure has been a huge success, and I have made and distributed several buttons. Even my teachers can't wait to earn buttons to show off to their students.
I am thrilled with the success of this, but our color printer quit working, and with the new ProjectLIT selections just being announced, we need to print new buttons for our students to earn.
This printer is vital to help keep our momentum going.
Along with using this new printer for our ProjectLIT reading incentive program, the students will use it for their student projects. Right now, I can only offer black and white prints. I want their projects to be full of color because they have put so much effort into their work. They have several projects that they work on in their science classes. They just finished up a project where they created children's books on an element, but we couldn't print those out in color. It was such a missed-out opportunity for them to make their projects pop.
With this printer and willow branch decoration, we will help bring our projects and library to life again with color. We appreciate your kindness.
