Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The most common question among my students is: how does math apply to real life? They want to know how what they are learning is going to help them in the future. I feel that my students will benefit most by giving them real life examples and with these manipulative's(supplies) I will.
My students are smart, honest and hard working despite the struggles they face everyday.
Our school is located in a low income community with very little to no resources. Our school is slowly making progress in improving our CST scores despite at the cuts being made to education.
My Project
My class really needs a classroom balance to show how equations are balanced, Geo boards to allow the students to create different geometric shapes, graphing boards to graph linear equations and foam dice manipulative's to use in probability. These manipulative's will allow the math to come alive. We will go from our everyday textbooks to hands on activities. My students are constantly seeking answers and these resources will allow them to be able to think outside the box and allow them to logically reach answers by manipulation.
These donations will benefit the students on a daily basis by making old boring lessons come alive and more interactive.
Today kids receive so much stimulation from technology and teaching them with out technology and manipulative's is really a disservice to them.
