Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hardworking, compassionate, and diverse. They are part of a Title I school that has 100% free and reduced lunch. Some of my students have never left their hometown of Bridgeport, Connecticut.

They are driven to know more about various cultures and are eager to use their voice to change their communities and world for the better.

I have seen them grow into amazing individuals, and I can't wait to see what they achieve in the future.

While many of them have not been given the opportunity to travel or live outside of their community, they have such a genuine eagerness to explore. They crave knowledge and have a fresh curiosity about the world around them. They always take what they are given and make the best out of their situations, which is why they hold such a special place in my heart. I will always do anything I can for them, and even then, I feel it is not enough.

My Project

The materials used for this project will all go towards giving my students a chance to grow beyond the boundaries of their hometown of Bridgeport, Connecticut. In our class, we will discuss how society is constantly ever-changing, how nothing stays the same.

These texts will be used to give my students opportunities to explore various cultures and societies that will provide them with a new perspective on the world in which they live.

The novels for this class all have aspects of society that go beyond what is normal, and by providing my students with the opportunity to read them, we will also provide them with new insights about people, technology, religion, and various other aspects that create a society.

My students rarely receive the proper materials to be successful. Having these texts will allow them to succeed at a level that is equal to more privileged schools surrounding their own. Without these materials, my students would not be able to thrive.
