Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students hail from diverse backgrounds, but many share a common thread - they live below the poverty level. By the time the morning bell rings, they've already faced obstacles. Some are homeless and hungry, others neglected. Most receive free breakfast and lunch. School is their haven, a safe environment. It's the place they are excited to spend their days and embrace new experiences. These children are just beginning a journey as lifelong learners. With the right resources and support, all are capable of achieving success.
My Project
First grade is a critical time to build the academic foundations and social skills that carry throughout a lifetime
Having a table to work in groups will allow my students to share ideas and supplies in a small group setting.
This is extremely beneficial for young learners who have little to no life experience beyond the boundaries of their homes.
Imagine students curled up together reading, solving math equations, exploring inquiry-based research and recording observations. The possibilities are endless!
This simple piece of furniture opens up a whole new world for children who find it challenging to sit at a desk for extended periods of time. The wobble cushions will provide opportunities for squirmy learners to have seating options besides the straight back chairs. Rigorous skills and concepts are more easily mastered in a comfortable environment.
