My Students

In Ms. Derrick’s 2nd Grade class, we are building extraordinary students!

Although my school district has been in-person for a majority of COVID-19, many of my students have moved from out of state, and had a lot of exposure to online learning as well as technology in home.

They are motivated by online games, reading and the immediate feedback that technology often provides. I would like to tap into what they know and continue to motivate them by providing additional chances to use technology in reading, science, and math.

Thank you for understanding the strain that COVID has put on our classrooms and providing support to help us bridge the gaps!

My Project

In a school that is not 1-to-1 technology and we're sharing our Chromebooks etc. with other classrooms. This makes integrating technology in our classroom very challenging.

These iPads, headphones, and powerpoint clicker, will help students learn reading, math and science with tools that they’re used to experiencing during at-home learning and motivate them to learn and create!

We will use iPads in our class library as e-books, to research animals & habitats to write animal reports, record reading expression and fluency, practice math facts and much more. The PowerPoint clicker will help us utilize technology WHOLE group to engage in powerpoints, as well as play literacy and math games whole group. (And what teacher doesn't need a new pencil sharpener for all the writing we do;-)
