My Students

My students have a love for reading and knowledge. I'm always looking for ways to make their learning interactive.

My students are third graders who are always looking for new things to learn.

I feel very honored to teach this age. They are hungry for knowledge and challenges. My school is very focused on family and academics. At our school we believe that parents and teachers working together give the students a better education. We are focused on teaching students to think past elementary and on to college, as if college is just an extension of their education.

My Project

In our classroom these iPads will extend our learning by using them for research and interactive learning. One way we will use them is through an app called Aurasma where you can make learning come to life. We study a lot of people in history who have impacted our world. Sometimes this can get confusing and the students can mix people up. By using this app (which primarily works with iPads) I've been able to help them understand these people better. Basically they use the iPad to scan a picture, and a video that you have attached appears. This video is from the public domain that I have attached to the picture. For example: I have a news conference with Helen Keller and Annie Sullivan, where Annie demonstrates how she taught Helen to speak. Also, having tools to complete research allows students to learn to find information for themselves and become independent learners. I am surprised at times that some students don't know how to find information.

Bringing these people to life through the app ensures that the students won't forget their contributions and sacrifices they made for our world.

Helping them make this connection will help establish understanding of civic responsibilities. This is different than QR codes in that it is much easier and interactive for the students to use. Helping students become independent learners establishes confidence and feeds their hunger to learn.
