Several Theater Arts students just recently had a historically based Living Museum at our school. This was a raging success and the students (both on and off the stage) learned so much through this opportunity. The Superintendent and Principal liked it so well that they asked if we could do it again for the community. Plus the newspaper came, took pictures, and published it on the front page. The Superintendent asked me what we (Theatre Arts) are going to do next year, and I talked to him about doing a Living Museum intertwining science and history. Our focus would be on inventors and historical figures who may have been trailblazers in a certain field.
The TV trays are used not only for the Living Museums (holding props conducive to the character,) but can be used on stage and in the Drama Room as well.
The pantomime costume would be for the character portrayed in the Living Museum, as well as any other time we needed it, and the foam boards would be used throughout it as well. My hope is to be able to use them more than once and sustain them for future events. The science flask set would be used for the upcoming Living Museum and in the Fine Arts Classroom as well. The chrome seats would be used both on and off stage for the appropriate sets. The one we have now is broken.
As a teacher, I am extremely thrilled with the success and vast opportunities this offered the students. I'm looking forward to doing another one and giving our school and all involved an opportunity to shine.
