My Students
My students are a diverse group of creative, energetic, clever, hard-working kids who enjoy moving around and exploring new ideas and concepts. They like to ask questions and do hands-on activities that challenge them to become problem solvers. They love to read, imagine, stretch their thinking, collaborate, and discuss their findings.
These bright kids have a variety of interests, goals, and skills that bring joy, excitement, and surprise to my classroom with their imaginative solutions and funny anecdotes.
They are motivated to learn and excel, while still looking toward the future. My students want to feel empowered and engaged in their learning.
Many of my students have ADHD, anxiety, and other disorders that help derail their progress and success in school, but they manage to overcome and flourish in their challenges. I want to provide an inviting and safe environment that will help them become independent people who can solve any problem they encounter. I want them to become their best selves.
My Project
These "Who Is/Was" books are fun, exciting, engaging, and bring history alive! My students love them and their colorful illustrated covers. They can connect with a variety of important people that have made an impact in society and history through these books. With a wide range in Lexile level, they reach all levels of readers while still challenging them to improve their reading comprehension.
With these exciting new titles available in my classroom library, my students will be able to explore the history and social studies in a vibrant and awe-inspiring way.
They will also help the students strengthen their reading and writing skills. Students will be able to choose a book on their reading level about a figure that interests them, and as they read and interact with these books, students show what they have learned through a variety of ways including essays, skits, drawings, and dressing as that figure. In my classroom, we will also use these books in writing, book clubs, social studies, and science. In helping to fund this project, you are allowing my students to experience joy in history and social studies coming alive. We thank you for your kindness in helping our classroom.
