My students need color ink for printing their presentations, color-code dots to serve as atomic particles for models, and lamination film for their posters.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a basement—as in, no windows or direct sunlight. I do my best to make my classroom a colorful, engaging environment for my students, but with budgets cut to the bone, anything more than bare walls requires resources that we don't have. Occasional damage from leaking walls doesn't help.
I teach 6th and 8th grade physical science at a predominantly Latino middle school in an inner-city CA neighborhood where over 60% of the adults never finished high school and almost 40% are living below the poverty line.
Many have never researched and developed science projects, and have not had the experience of producing professional presentations.
My Project
For the classes in general, these materials will help promote the colorful, print-rich environment that engages minds throughout long, 100-minute block periods. Much like the houses in Gryffindor, each class has its own color scheme and class leaders, which are proudly displayed on our bulletin boards. However, without ink, I can't print any of the photos, which they're excited to see.
Furthermore, the ability to laminate important pieces will ensure that, whenever the walls leak (due to occasional rain or even overwatering outside), our classroom environment can withstand water damage. Furthermore, once the standardized testing onslaught begins, these materials will give the students the opportunity to bring together their experiments and research with color photos and displays about which they can truly be proud.
These supplies will help to ensure that our windowless basement classroom is bright, colorful, and engaging, and reflects the work and personalities of the students therein.
In addition to the overall classroom environment, students will be able to produce more professional reports and graphics for their science presentations.
