We are a school that believes in inclusion. All children are welcomed into our classrooms, and we must meet their needs. We must prepare engaging lessons for children with severe needs, children who come from broken homes or foster care, and children who must be enriched to reach their full potential. My kids come to school eager to learn, and I want them to leave excited for more at the end of every day.
My students are hungry for engaging, diverse reading materials that will build a love of reading and writing while meeting current standards.
Students need well-written mentor texts that illustrate reading and writing standards in an understandable way.
My Project
My classroom is full of rich diversity! I love it! Unfortunately, I've realized my classroom library does not reflect that diversity.
I would like to add these titles to my library to classroom library for several reasons.
One, I'd like every student to see themselves in my classroom. I want stories that reflect their lives. Two, I want every student in my classroom to experience other cultures and learn what makes all of us unique and the same. Three, I want my kids to read! These books are rich, wonderful books that will draw my students into reading.
