Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am so very fortunate to have an ENL class that is made up of so many diverse children. Many of my students are immigrants from Bangladesh and come to this country not knowing English. I have the opportunity and privilege to help them become accustomed to the American culture. Many of my students' parents are also very involved In learning the English language.
Being new to the country, many of my students are eager and excited to learn.
They often help each other, and watching them soak up the English language and culture is wonderful!
My Project
Project based learning is such a great way to get my kiddos learning in a fun and engaged way! Researching in groups, being creative with hands on projects, posters and presentations is a fun and interactive way to get students learning about a topic. Often times my students are on the computer researching a topic and gathering information to present. Whether on power point or poster board my kiddos love printing and presenting.
A cricut machine in the classroom would open up a world of digital design that my students have not discovered yet!
They would have the opportunity to design labels on the computer or pictures to aid in their projects. Students will learn about the digital design of a cricut where they make their own fonts and text features. We would first start with designing their names. We could label their notebooks and pencil cases! They would love to pick out their own fonts and colors. This can help get them super excited about the possibilities of what we can design!
My students love technology and being able to create a poster digitally and print it out on the cricut could also spark a new interest for them! Many students in my class could not afford this piece of technology so this would be a great learning experience for them.
