Bringing Data Into This Century!

Help me give my students a data collection system that is part of this century with the use of technology through the Kindles, my students strengths and challenges can be recorded and organized in the moment.

My Students

I teach at a Title I-funded elementary school that also happens to be a feeder school for students with special needs. I currently teach one of the full-day, special needs, pre-K classes and get the opportunity to be the early intervention these students need. My students have a variety of disabilities ranging from mild to severe. Some of their disabilities include autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, attention deficit disorder, Down syndrome, and oppositional defiant disorder.

My class is an awesome group of kids who just want to have fun learning in a place they feel safe and loved.

For some of my students, this is their first time in a school or structured learning setting and it is my goal to make it meaningful and enjoyable to help build a foundation of love for learning to help them excel in the future.

My Project

I am requesting the purchase of 4 Amazon Kindles with covers to help update my data collection system. With the use of the Kindles my paraprofessionals and I can take up to the minute data on our students' performance. Because I work in a Pre-K room, I want the Kindles to be protected so, that is why I am also requesting the cases. The different colors will also help us to color code for individual students so, that only my paraprofessionals and I know who is being assessed that day and we can maintain confidentiality.

With the use of organized up to date data, I am able to design lessons and activities that best meet my students' needs.

I have a better understanding of where they are struggling or exceeding so, that I may remediate or challenge my students. Rather than spending the time organizing post it notes, data collection forms, and work samples I will have all the information I need in one place and by using Microsoft Forms all of the data will be organized and analyzed for me. Thus freeing up time for me to focus on preparing materials my students need to succeed.
