My students need colored paper for Writing Workshop.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Ferro's classroom raised $270
This project is fully funded
I teach 3rd grade students who come into class everyday wanting to learn something new. Because of their various backgrounds, poverty levels, and other struggles at home, I have to be creative and ready to challenge them with exciting lessons and fun supplies.
Writing is a subject that my students have struggled with year after year. Some students just don't like to pick up a pencil and write. The very thought or mention of it and they cringe. I have let students write on and with all different types of supplies just to get their thoughts together.
We have recently been exploring different ways to teach writing to our students. The school district has provided us with trainings, books to read, web sites to visit and people to utilize for questions. That is all well and good but writing requires pencils and paper.
To teach my 3rd graders to write an essay I have to get them to separate their ideas into different paragraphs. I have found that a different colored paper for each paragraph has helped them when they are putting their thoughts together. We use one color for the introduction, one for each of the body paragraphs and one for the conclusion. When they finally finish all their pages they then rewrite or type everything into one essay.
My students are amazed at what they get as a final writing piece. Students that barely wrote a few sentences, were now writing several page essays. All because they were able to get their thoughts together.
We are asking for your help in bringing color into our writing world.
