Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach pre-k through fifth-grade students at a low-income school. Most of my students are on government assistance and receive free breakfast and lunch. My classes have eighteen to twenty-four students who are eager to learn new things. The district gives only a small amount of money for school supplies, small instruments and repair supplies for elementary music. My students love to be challenged with new activities. Many of my students have limited knowledge of the world outside their neighborhood and need more opportunities to learn, create and grow.
My Project
The use of paper in a classroom is unavoidable. Between manipulatives and flyers to go home, I use a lot of paper of all colors and thicknesses.
Having a way to organize the papers, manipulatives, and writing tools in bins helps the class run smoother with less downtime.
I use a lot of colored paper for visuals and manipulatives that my students use to help them learn skills. The children love learning using hands-on methods. In my class, I use paper manipulatives to give them the chance to be creative while learning the skills. The baskets will help us keep the visuals and other supplies that we may need together and easy to hand out to the students.
