My students need books that discuss big, important life lessons in age appropriate ways. The more kids can identify and connect with books, the more likely they are to develop a lifelong love for reading.
I am a brand new teacher and I am looking forward to meeting a group of around 25 3rd graders in the fall! My classroom will be a safe space for trying new things, making mistakes, and learning.
SM serves a diverse community, with more than 20 languages represented in a K-5 environment.
I am eager to start the year with materials that will be highly utilized so that my students can have the best learning experience possible! My hope is to immediately begin cultivating a supportive and engaging environment for students to learn and grow throughout the year.
My Project
The books listed here are some of my favorites to teach with. They exemplify some of the most important character traits kids need to learn: kindness, compassion, courage, resilience, and being a good friend.
My students have the ability to become empathetic, courageous, resilient young people and these books will help them reach their potential.
The story lines of these books are inspirational and age appropriate. The artwork is captivating. The messages are clear. Most importantly, kids LOVE these books and having them available in our classroom would allow them to be used for read alouds, social-emotional health lessons, and writing lessons, while STILL allowing kids to have access to them throughout the year. These are the types of books that make a difference for kids and it would be such a benefit to have them at our fingertips all year.
