This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom/school has been turned upside down by this pandemic just like any other school. We had to learn how to use online platforms in order to continue teaching our students and it has been difficult to get everyone on board and participating.

As a teacher I have found it very difficult to motivate students to read at home during this time.

They do not have access to books like they used to and are stuck reading whatever is available in the online apps or have to wait a long time to get their eBooks. I would love to have the opportunity to send students books to their houses so they can read something I know they will truly enjoy.

My Project

These books will be mailed out to students in order to give them access to books that they do not currently have access to. As a teacher I have noticed that students’ reading has decreased since they have not been at school. When I meet with students they often tell me that they can’t find books they enjoy and do not like reading online or audiobooks.

Delivering these books to students will give them access to great literature at home.

I hope they will become motivated to read again and enjoy these classics.
